8.9 richter scale Earth quake and Tsunami hits north-eastern Japan

   11/March/2011 is the day that most japanese will not forget as the one of the largest earthquake to hit on their nation for many years. 8.9 ricther scale Earthquake say to be biggest earthquake to strike the country in 140 years, surpassing the Great Kanto quake of 1923 that killed more than 140,000 people in the Tokyo area.

The quake has sparked fires in several areas and the tsunami swept away cars, ships and even buildings being by a vast wall of water after the 8.9 magnitude earthquake. The earthquake happen on on 1446 local time +9GMT (malaysian time:1346)

Bullet train service to northern Japan was halted, rapid transit in Tokyo was suspended and some nuclear power plants automatically shut down.

The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center in Hawaii said a tsunami warning was in effect for Japan, Russia, Marcus Island and the Northern Marianas. A tsunami watch has been issued for Guam, Taiwan, the Philippines, Indonesia and the U.S. state of Hawaii.

I will expect a lot of people getting injure, lost their lives and home. Electricity , water supply and transport will be halted and it take days to recover. Scar in their heart will take years to recover. Hope their government will take act fast to rebuild the community and provide support (medic, water and food) to those who are involved in this nation disaster. Let's pray for them. God bless them.

Update 1 (from BBC world log) :Ryan McGuinness on the Hawaiian island of Maui tells CNN that he is standing about 10ft away from the shore. He says there have been surges, during which the sea has advanced about 20ft further inland than normal. But now, he says, the sea level has receded about 200ft, exposing reefs and rocks which are normally always covered. People are calm, he adds, but they are now moving to higher ground.

Update 2 (from BBC world log):  Japanese police have now confirmed that between 200 and 300 bodies have been found on the beach near Sendai, the closest city to the epicentre. NHK television said the victims appeared to have drowned. Earlier, police said at least 60 people had been killed and 56 were missing.
